This chapter was updated in November 2024, and provides basic guidance about completing the Court of Protection (COP) forms that are most commonly prepared by practitioners involved in a case. It should be read alongside any formal guidance available. If you are in any doubt about how to complete a form, seek legal support as soon as possible, as most forms have a limited timeframe in which to be completed and submitted to the Court. Section 4, Consulting Others was amended to clarify the importance of, whenever practicable, identifying and consulting with anyone close to the person who may be interested in their welfare, and of recording the rationale behind any decision made not to consult someone. |
